Concert Hall [in progress]

Graduate Thesis project (part 2 of 2)

Concert Hall design for Fergus Falls, MN

The idea behind this design is to fully integrate the concert hall into the small scale urban fabric. The Hall is therefore setback from the street and placed within the narrow grained fabric. This helps to reduce the apparent scale of the building and distinguishes the hierarchical importance from the urban fabric and the Hall.  There are also two primary axes which converge at a 90 degree angle on the concert hall site. The N-S axis aligns the towns governmental buildings and the E-W axis aligns the arts district. This concert hall is hinge or pivot which these two axes rotate on.
